RUMOURS: Manchester United ready to break the bank for Griezmann
After making a big move for Paul Pogba last summer, the Red Devils are ready to do the same this year to capture another France star.
Manchester United have made Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann their top transfer target for the summer – and the Red Devils are ready to spend big on the France star,The Independentreports.
Jose Mourinho’s men spent £89 million to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in the summer, and they are ready to go close to matching that in order to capture his international team-mate.
Griezmann has a release clause of €100m, which is around £86.5m at current exchange rates, and United would have to match that to prise him from the Spaniards.
A potential transfer ban is currently lingering over the Diego Simeone-coached club. Atleti are in the process of appealing, but if they are successful, they could target Chelsea’s Diego Costa as the 25-year-old’s replacement.
Meanwhile, United are willing to listen to offers for left-back Luke Shaw, with Chelsea and Tottenham potential suitors for the England star.
